Magento 1 / OpenMage LTS

AI shopping assistant for Magento 1 and OpenMage.

Magento 1 reached end of life in 2020 and most AI vendors stopped there. If you are running OpenMage LTS, or a Magento 1 store that still earns its keep, this is a module built for it — not a generic script bolted on.

What it does

Actually supported, not tolerated

This is a real Magento 1 module with a modman manifest and a Packagist package, tested against OpenMage LTS 20.x and 21.x. It is not the Magento 2 build with the version check removed.

The same assistant as Magento 2

Natural-language product search, recommendations, promotion awareness, order tracking and the store locator all work here. Feature parity is the point of the module existing.

Answers from your catalogue

Products, variants, prices, stock levels and reviews sync automatically, and out-of-stock items are never recommended.

In-chat order tracking

"Where is my order?" returns a card with status, items and a carrier tracking link. Logged-in customers see their recent orders; guests verify with an order number and email.

No theme surgery

The widget loads through the module's own layout update. Your theme files stay untouched, which matters more on a Magento 1 install than anywhere else.

Runs on the PHP you have

PHP 7.4 through 8.3, so it fits whatever your OpenMage upgrade path has reached without forcing a platform move first.

Installing on Magento 1 / OpenMage

  1. Install the module. Via Composer as idea89/magento1-assistant, or with modman, or by copying the app/ tree.
  2. Flush the cache. System → Cache Management → Flush Magento Cache, so the new config and layout are picked up.
  3. Paste your API key. System → Configuration → idea89. The key comes from your dashboard.
  4. Let the catalogue sync. The first sync indexes your products; after that, changes flow through as you edit them.
  5. Style it and go live. Set the assistant's name, brand colour and welcome copy, then switch it on.

Magento 1 and OpenMage questions

Magento 1 is end of life. Why does this exist?
Because plenty of Magento 1 and OpenMage stores are still trading profitably, and replatforming is expensive. Being unsupported by Adobe does not mean a store stops needing to answer shopper questions.
Is this the same assistant as the Magento 2 version?
Yes. Product search, recommendations, promotions, order tracking and the store locator all work the same way, backed by the same service. The module is what differs, not the assistant.
Does it work with OpenMage LTS specifically?
Yes, and that is the primary target. It is tested against OpenMage LTS 20.x and 21.x, and works on Magento 1.9 Community Edition.
Will it work on old PHP?
It supports PHP 7.4 through 8.3, which covers the range most OpenMage installs sit in. The AI itself runs on our servers, so your PHP version only has to serve the module.
What if I replatform to Magento 2 later?
Your account, settings and history move with you. You install the Magento 2 module, point it at the same store, and carry on; there is no separate contract or migration fee.

Still on Magento 1? It still works.

Point it at your OpenMage or Magento 1 store and watch it answer on your real products in about two minutes.
