Disclosure: idea89 is one of the tools on this list — we make it. We have not put ourselves first, and every price and platform claim below was taken from that product’s own public pages and checked in September 2026. Vendors change pricing often, so follow the source links before you decide anything.
Most round-ups of this kind are written by one of the vendors on the list, which is why they all conclude the same way. This one is too — so rather than pretend otherwise, the useful thing we can offer is the part those articles usually skip: what each tool actually costs, which platforms it genuinely supports, and when it is the wrong choice.
Magento buyers have a narrower field than Shopify buyers. Several well-known AI assistants do not support Magento at all, and almost none support Magento 1 or OpenMage. That constraint shapes the list more than feature comparisons do, so it is worth checking platform support before anything else.
One framing that helps: most of these are not the same kind of product. Some are helpdesks with AI in front, built for tickets after the order exists. Some are shopping assistants, built for the shopper who has not bought yet. Some are merchandising suites. Deciding which of those three you need eliminates most of the list immediately.
The tools
Ordered by the kind of merchant each suits, not ranked. There is no single best one; there is the one that matches the problem you actually have.
Gorgias
Best for: stores whose real problem is ticket volume, not conversion
An ecommerce-native helpdesk with an AI Agent in front of it. It is built around returns, exchanges, delivery problems and order issues, and it is very good at that. It is deliberately not priced per agent, which suits growing support teams.
- Pricing
- Tiered by ticket volume, quoted through a calculator rather than fixed published numbers. The AI Agent is on every plan and charged when it resolves a conversation.
- Platforms
- Shopify, BigCommerce, Magento, WooCommerce
- Worth knowing
- Adopting it means moving your support operation into it. That is a bigger change than installing a storefront widget, and it does little for shoppers who have not bought yet.

Tidio (Lyro AI)
Best for: stores that need a support inbox as much as an assistant
Tidio is a live-chat and helpdesk platform, with an AI agent called Lyro layered on top. It is a mature product with a genuine free tier, and it consolidates several contact channels into one inbox, which matters if your customers reach you in more than one place.
- Pricing
- Free; Starter $24.17/mo; Growth from $49.17/mo; Plus from $300/mo plus usage. Lyro AI is priced separately, from $32.50/mo for 50 AI conversations.
- Platforms
- Shopify, Magento / Adobe Commerce, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, PrestaShop and others
- Worth knowing
- The plan fee, the Lyro AI allowance and human agent conversations are billed as separate lines, so the monthly total moves with how busy you were.

Clerk.io
Best for: stores wanting to upgrade onsite search and recommendation blocks
A personalisation suite: onsite search, recommendation blocks, audiences and email, with a chatbot alongside. Its centre of gravity is your existing search results and merchandising rather than a conversation, and it is well established on Magento.
- Pricing
- Quoted through a pricing calculator rather than fixed published tiers.
- Platforms
- Magento, Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Shopware and others
- Worth knowing
- You cannot compare cost without asking them, and its onsite search replaces what you have today, which is a larger change than adding a widget.

idea89Ours
Best for: Magento stores that want conversion help at a flat, predictable price
A shopping assistant rather than a helpdesk: natural-language product search, recommendations from your live catalogue, add to the real Magento cart, in-chat order tracking and a store locator. It installs as a Composer module with no theme override. It is the only tool here that also ships a module for Magento 1 and OpenMage LTS.
- Pricing
- £49, £149 or £349 per month flat, including 1,000 / 10,000 / 50,000 conversations and 1 / 5 / 10 stores. No per-seat and no per-resolution charge. Free trial, no card.
- Platforms
- Magento 2 and Adobe Commerce, Magento 1 and OpenMage LTS, WooCommerce
- Worth knowing
- It is not a helpdesk. There is no ticketing, no shared inbox, and it does not process returns or refunds. If your problem is support volume rather than conversion, one of the others here fits better. It is also a young product from a small team.

Alhena AI
Best for: larger stores wanting an AI suite beyond the storefront chat
A genuine AI shopping assistant rather than a helpdesk with AI attached, and it spans more surfaces than most: social commerce, review handling, voice and agent assist alongside the on-site assistant.
- Pricing
- Free tier; Essentials $199/mo, Growth $499/mo, Scale $999/mo billed annually; Enterprise on request. Usage runs on credits, with overage at $1.20 per credit.
- Platforms
- Shopify, WooCommerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud and others. Their published integrations list does not include Magento or Adobe Commerce.
- Worth knowing
- The first paid tier is $199/mo, which is a big step for a smaller store, and credit overages are billed on top.

Intercom Fin
Best for: teams already running Intercom as their communications platform
Fin is Intercom's AI agent, answering from your help centre and connected content. If your company already lives in Intercom, turning Fin on is far less work than adopting anything else on this list.
- Pricing
- Seats at $29, $85 or $132 per seat per month depending on plan, plus $0.99 for each conversation Fin resolves.
- Platforms
- Platform-agnostic; ecommerce integrations are apps rather than native store modules
- Worth knowing
- Cost moves with both team size and resolution volume. A thousand resolved conversations is roughly $990 in Fin charges before you count seats.

How to choose
Check platform support first
It is the fastest way to shorten the list. Not every vendor here supports Magento, and if you are on Magento 1 or OpenMage LTS the field narrows to almost nothing. Confirm it on their own integrations page rather than a round-up.
Decide whether you have a support problem or a conversion problem
If your inbox is drowning, a helpdesk with AI deflection is the right tool. If shoppers are leaving without buying, a shopping assistant is. Buying the wrong one of those two is the most common expensive mistake here.
Model the pricing at your real volume
Per-resolution and credit-based pricing look cheap at small volumes and get expensive fast. Flat tiers are the reverse. Take your actual monthly conversation estimate and run it through each model before comparing headline prices.
Test on your own catalogue, not a demo
Every one of these looks good on a curated demo store. The question is whether it handles your product names, your attributes and your edge cases. Insist on trying it against your real catalogue.
